Residency

Residency by Investment in Cyprus

The Cyprus Residency by Investment program provides successful applicants and their families with an opportunity to obtain a Cyprus immigration permit that has unlimited duration, all within a remarkably short two-month processing time. As an investor, you can apply for Cyprus citizenship after residing in the country for five years as a permit holder.

Requirements for Residency

In 2024, the following criteria apply to investors seeking Cyprus residency:

Investment Amount: You must invest a minimum of €300,000 in one of the following categories:

  • Residential Property: Purchase a brand-new residential property (house or apartment) valued at least €300,000 plus VAT. Off-plan properties are also eligible, regardless of the delivery date. If you and your spouse make a joint purchase, the combined investment should meet the minimum requirement.
  • Commercial Properties: Invest in offices, shops, hotels, or related developments. Resales or used properties are also acceptable.
  • Cyprus Company’s Share Capital: Invest in shares or establish a Cyprus company. The company must be based and operating in Cyprus, have a proven physical presence, and employ at least five people.
  • Units of Cyprus Investment Organization of Collective Investments: Purchase units in any of the mentioned investment forms (AIF, AIFLNP, RAIF).

Annual Income Requirement:

    • If you invest in a residential property, your income must be entirely from abroad.
    • For other investment options, part of your income may also be from Cyprus.
    • The secured annual income threshold is €50,000.

Benefits of Cyprus Residency:

    • Unrestricted Entry and Stay: You can freely enter and stay within Cyprus.
    • Inclusion of Family: Your spouse and minor children can also benefit from the residency.
    • Healthcare Access: You have the right to healthcare under the General Healthcare System.
    • No Continuous Stay Requirement: A visit every two years is sufficient to retain residency status.
    • Limited Work Rights: While there is no general right to work in Cyprus, you can invest in company shares and serve as an unsalaried director.

Recent Updates (May 2, 2023)

  • Increased Annual Income: The secured annual income requirement has been raised from €30,000 to €50,000.
  • Exclusion of Parents and Parents-in-Law: They no longer have the right to acquire residence together with the applicant.
